General Introduction to the Peace Education Program

The desire for peace is universal as everyone without exception yearns to live in peace. Unfortunately, we are found ourselves faced with conflicts and crisis, violence and even wars everywhere. At the root of all conflicts and violence is human ignorance of the ideal of peace. More than ever before, we need to understand the principles and practices that can facilitate the realization of peaceful citizens, families, societies and nations. There is the very urgent need to dispel our ignorance of peaceful living and to develop our inherent potential to live in peace. Our Peace Education Program prepares participants to have the right attitude, knowledge and skills to become educators and champions of peace as individuals, in families, schools, communities, organizations, associations and institutions. The Peace Education Program provides opportunities to study the universal principles of peace, the root causes of conflicts and the principles of conflict management, reconciliation and resolution. Our Peace Students learn how to facilitate a culture of peace, strengthen structures for peace and how to effectively develop and utilize resources and infrastructure for peace. There are options for students to study and serve as teachers of peace or missionaries for peace in faith based communities and institutions.
